Rome Film Festival 2008
The 3rd edition of the Rome International Film Festival will be held from October 22 to October 31, 2008 using the entire city of Rome as the event's settings. The focal point will be the Parco della Muscia Auditorium - designed by Renzo Piano - and the Movie Village.
This edition will be based on the blend of popular vocation and quality culture. This mix enables the event to attract both film fans as well as those who have never taken part in the festival before.
A large event dedicated to Brazil will get the Rome International Film festival rolling on October 22nd in one of the most beautiful squares in the world: Piazza Navona, where dozens of artists, musicians and dancers are scheduled to perform. The performance, directed by the famous musician Arto Lindsay, is inspired by the carnival traditions of the Afro blocos and gentle beat of the bossa nova.
News of the first events starting to be released include two different stage appearances of directors David Cronenberg and Michael Cimino in the "L' Altro Cinema - Extra" section. Also scheduled is the world premier of Cronenberg's exhibition, Chromosomes, a collection of 50 stills taken from the Canadian director's films.
A Focus on Brazil was also announced with films, music, exhibits and meetings. A day will be reserved for Tibetan cinematography and documentary films in the presence of the Dalai Lama.
